A Giant Silkworm moth in a handmade wooden frame mounted on high-quality acid-free conservation board. The Latin and common names are printed underneath the specimen.

The caterpillars from the silkworm moth are one of the most dangerous in the world. They are covered in spear-like bristles full of a powerful anti-coagulant venom, and even just brushing against one can cause vomiting, and internal bleeding. Touching more than one, which is quite common, results in massive internal haemorrhaging, renal failure and death.

All of the insect specimens we work with are raised on farms which help to preserve the valuable rainforest habitat by providing villagers an ethical income other than clearing virgin tropical rainforest.
