Lucy Eglington Lucy was born and educated in the UK and travelled extensively before settling in New Zealand 15 years ago. Lucy is a painter, working primarily in oils which gives her work an exquisite realism usually only found in photographs. The level of detail she gives her subjects is truly stunning, and will provide viewers with a sense of awe and wonder for the creatures within.
Her work explores themes of loss and connection, using animals as symbols for feelings, senses and ideas – particularly relevant in today’s throw away, and seemingly unconnected world. Lately embarking on work that focuses on animals’ place within our world, there is a sense of sadness to her deeply poignant comments on habitat loss, pollution and climate change.
